A pair of junior golfers with Red Deer connections will make the trip out east to tee it up in a national championship event.

Chandler McDowell and Carter Graf will be in Kingston at the end of July for the 2017 Canadian Junior Boys Championship.

The recent Future Links, driven by Acura Pacific Championship in Chilliwack, B.C. was where it happened for both players. Each taking a different route to wind up at the same location in a couple of months.

Chandler McDowell, a Team Canada Development Squad member, started Sunday in the lead, but after bogeys on two of the first three holes, he was never able to fully recover. He finished 8-under on the tournament after his even-par final round to finish alone in fourth.

For Graf it was a little more edgy as he needed a playoff to book his flight. Graf fired a final round 3-under 69 to edge out Aidan Goodfellow in playoff for the final spot.
