If TRUE linkswear was a baby, you might say the company entered the world of golf shoes quietly, softly, and comfortably-just like the shoes themselves.
Now this latest member of the family has made an appearance with a little more noise and a bit of an attitude but still retaining the family genes.
The Game Changer Pro is a step away from the minimalist/barefoot design which has been the cornerstone of the business according to Jeff Wood, VP of marketing for TRUE linkswear.
“Now we’re taking that barefoot design and integrating a replaceable soft spikes outsole,” he said of the first spiked shoe model from the company which created the first barefoot golf shoe.
So without going all Stephen Hawking on the golfers out there Wood says the game change in this new shoe is what they call the P-Motion technology.
“We worked with a biomechanics engineer to develop a thin rubber mesh compound for the midsole of this shoe,” said Wood. “The mesh is breathable and also moveable, so we call it “perpetual motion” ,that allows your foot to move naturally inside the shoe.”
Those who swear by the spikeless TRUE shoes in their collection will still get that familiar feeling of comfort but Wood says this version also alleviates the “pressure point” platforms a spiked shoe typically creates for the foot.
Wood says even with spikes added to the shoe the wearer will still experience the zero drop heel to toe, a wide toe box, lightweight and very flexible feel-all traits of the TRUE line which features six different models.
It’s been six years since TRUE entered the highly competitive golf shoe marketplace and Wood says there has been a learning curve since day one.
He says in order to keep up with the big boys you need to put innovation at the forefront of product development.
“The consumer expects new technologies and designs that will benefit them. Most recently we have dedicated more staff and resources to product development so we can continue to expand our line and deliver exceptional comfort in every shoe we make.”
Now the company has its feet under it, so the plan is to expand into new categories and the Game Changer Pro is their first step into this area .
